Simply Earth Essential Oil Subscription Box Review

Who enjoys getting mail? I know I sure do. Subscription boxes are like a fun surprise every time. Simply Earth is a monthly essential oil subscription box. Every box has a different theme and all contain 4 essential oils, recipes, and supplies to make the recipes. March’s theme was soap making and this month’s (April) theme is cleaning. All the recipes are very easy, making it kid friendly as well.

I received my box free in exchange for my honest review. If you commit to a monthly subscription (with the ability to cancel at anytime), the box costs $39. What a great deal to get an idea if essential oils are right for you. Their oils are 100% pure and undergo GC/MS (Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry) testing to make sure they are. THIS is a good article about how that information is used.

Simply Earth Essential Oil Subscription Box

The April cleaning themed subscription box contains 4 essential oils (tea tree, balsam fir, cinnamon, and lemon), 2 spray bottles, cleaning cloths, and 6 recipe cards. The recipes include surface cleaner, furniture polish, room spray, tub and tile scrub, garbage pail pods, and a blend for your diffuser. Today I am sharing with you how to make the garbage pail pods. As with all Simply Earth essential oil subscription boxes, the recipes are very simple and easy to make.

DIY Garbage Pail Pods

Ingredients: ½ cup baking soda, 1/8 cup water, 10 drops balsam fir essential oil

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, mix the essential oils and baking soda until the oil is evenly distributed.
  2. Slowly stir in water.
  3. Pack 2 tsp at a time into a rigid container such as an ice cube try and allow it to dry for 12-24 hours.
  4. Remove newly formed pods from container and store in an air tight container.
  5. Tape 1 pod to the bottom of a garbage pail to dispel odors, replace as needed.

Tips: Silicone ice cube trays work best for this project. I like to store my DIY garbage pail pods in a glass jar. I recycled an empty pickle jar for this project. Just be sure to wash the jar thoroughly before repurposing (sometimes a new lid is needed).

Hurry and grab this box before it is gone! The Simply Earth essential oil subscription box is fun for the whole family and a great introduction to essential oils. Lemon and Tea tree oil are two oils that made it into my Essential Oils for Green Cleaning article HERE. They are some of my must have oils with so many uses.
