It has been quite a few months since I shared a roundup of my green beauty favorites. I had planned for this to be a feature on my blog, but so far it isn’t working out. I guess you could say it takes a lot more to impress me these days. Last week, I did feature a skin care line that I felt made the grade. If you missed it, go read about it HERE.
My favorite shampoo and conditioner as of late have been the Repairing (coconut) line from Juice Organics. I have very dry, color treated hair and often have a difficult time finding something affordable that also does a good job of properly moisturizing my hair. These also do not contain pheonxyethanol, sulfates, petroleum derived ingredients, or artificial fragrance like so many natural hair care products do. The shampoo cleanses without stripping my hair and the conditioner is thick yet easy to wash out without leaving my hair feeling greasy. I first found these at Ulta Beauty, but now like to get them from Vitacost as they are a bit cheaper and quite often on sale. Target is supposed to start carrying Juice Organics soon as well. A Youtuber I watch recommends using the Juice Organics Pomsmooth line so I might be trying that one next. Overall, I am very happy with the clean ingredient list (contains over 70% organic ingredients) and the fact that they are reasonable (retails for $12 for a 10 oz bottle).
Yuni Active Calm Moisturizer was a surprising favorite this month. It was in the February/ March LOVE GOODLY bi- monthly subscription box. I have been using it as a night cream before I go to bed at night. It is lightweight, but also does an amazing job of plumping my skin. I also used it on my daughter’s irritated nose. Whenever she is sick, the area underneath her nose gets red and irritated. Just from using this lotion, the redness immediately went away and the irritation was gone in two days. FYI, if you have been thinking about trying the LOVE GOODLY subscription box, I have received spoilers that the April/ May box is going to contain a serum from One Love Organics and a mascara from 100 Percent Pure. What a great deal for under $30!
Occasionally, I try a product which leaves a lasting impression on me. Beautycounter’s Lip Sheer is one such product. It goes on incredibly smooth, isn’t sticky in the least and leaves my lips very moisturized. At first I was put off by it’s price tag, and at the time, I had many other lip glosses. However, I found that during the winter months, quite a few of my green beauty lip products changed textures because they contain beeswax. They just weren’t cutting it as far as leaving my lips feeling soft. In February, I finally splurged and bought the Beautycounter Lip Sheer in Petal and I couldn’t be happier. It is the one I reach for day after day because I just love how shiny and smooth it makes my lips. Petal is that perfect shade for that “no makeup” look that I enjoy. There are 10 shades to choose from so I am certain you will find one that fits your needs as well. No matter the temperature outside, the consistency stays the same and always looks flawless.
